Frequently Asked Questions

Still wondering if sintered stone is right for your project? You’re not alone. Here are the most common questions we answer for architects, builders, and homeowners every day.

What is Sintered Stone?

Think of it as nature, supercharged.

20 natural minerals are fused together in European kilns at over 1200°C. The result? A slab that looks like marble or quartzite but performs far better.

  • 100% natural composition
  • Up to 95% recycled content
  • Made with renewable energy in Spain's top sintered stone production facility.

It combines all the beauty of natural stone, with incredible durability. Giving you complete piece of mind, covered by a 25 year warranty.

Is Sintered stone the same as porcelain?

Not exactly, here's why. Porcelain is a type of ceramic material made from refined clay and fired at high temperatures.

Sintered stone is created using advanced technology that replicates the natural process of stone formation under extreme heat and pressure. This makes sintered stone denser, stronger, and more consistent than standard porcelain.

Our Techlam sintered stone range was first developed in 2007 and is now used in over 100 countries around the globe.

We have rigorously stress tested this material with over 70 Stonemasons around Australia to prove the durability and robust nature of this material.

Does sintered stone crack and chip like porcelain?

Not with Asetica. When fabricated and installed correctly, our slabs are incredibly strong and flexible. In fact, they’re tougher than natural stone and carry a 25-year warranty for peace of mind.

We've performed 50+ fabricator tests all around Australia and the result?

A material that fabricates just like ordinary stone, producing ultra high quality cuts and outcomes for your next project.

Where can I use sintered stone?

Anywhere you can imagine. With sintered stone there truly are no limits.

Unlike traditional surfaces, sintered stone goes beyond the normal limits of design, allowing you to create anywhere you like.

  • Kitchen benchtops
  • Splashbacks
  • Bathroom vanities
  • Island benchtops
  • Laundry tops
  • Shower wall lining
  • Flooring (in dry areas)
  • Outdoor kitchens
  • BBQ surrounds
  • External Facades
  • Bespoke furniture
  • Feature walls
  • Fireplaces
  • Tv surrounds
  • Commercial areas
  • + a whole lot more.

How much are your slabs?

We have different pricing categories for both 12mm and 20mm designs.

For indicative pricing information, email our team at enquiries@asetica.com.au and we'd be glad to help with pricing information for your job.

We can even refer you to vetted stonemasons in your area.

Where are your slabs made?

Our slabs are proudly manufactured in Spain by Levantina, one of Europe’s most respected surface producers. With over 70 years of innovation, their commitment to precision, sustainability, and design excellence is unmatched.

Asetica is the exclusive supplier of the Techlam sintered stone range in NSW and WA — so when you choose us, you’re sourcing directly from the best.

How is sintered stone different than other materials?

Unlike traditional surfaces, sintered stone is formed by replicating the natural process of stone formation — but accelerated through science.

We start with 100% natural minerals, then apply intense heat and pressure to fuse them into a non-porous, ultra-durable slab.

The result? A surface that’s not only stunning, but:

  • Resistant to heat, stains, scratches and UV
  • Suitable for indoor and outdoor use
  • From from resins and chemical binders

It’s nature, perfected by technology.

Can I use sintered stone outdoors?

Absolutely — in fact, it’s built for it.

Techlam’s UV resistance and zero-porosity surface make it ideal for outdoor benchtops, facades, BBQ areas, and more. It won’t fade, warp, or deteriorate under sun, rain, or temperature shifts, making it the go-to surface for Australian exteriors.
